QUICK TIPS FOR YOUR SKIN

Use almond oil to soften and soothe dry, rough and chapped skin.  Apply it like you would any lotion and use it the same way.

Eat brown rice for healthier skin.  Brown rice has amino acids that nourish and heal skin cells.

Drink a quart of fresh fruit or carrot juice every day to gain control of skin diseases.  *** If you have ulcers or other problems that may be exacerbated by this quantity of fruit juice, you should seek another method or talk to your doctor/naturopath about alternative skin treatments.

QUICK TIPS FOR ACNE

Apply fresh onion juice to the pimples, after thoroughly cleaning your face.  Leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing well.  It is recommended that you do this on a daily basis to clear up blemishes.  I don't suggest using this method right before a date or a other instances where you'll be close to people - for obvious reasons.

Eat apricots daily to aid in the control of acne and pimple.

QUICK TIPS FOR ANTI-AGING

Lemon balm is a great wrinkle remedy.  Take a handful of the leaves and let them steep in a pint of boiling water.  When cool, use as a morning rinse.

QUICK TIPS FOR HAIR

Try this for bright, shiny hair:  Very finely chop one avacado in a blender.  Massage the pulp into your hair for 5 minutes before rinsing out thoroughly.

If you have dry hair, try rinsing it with marshmallow tea after you shampoo.  Just brew up 2 cups and let cool before using.

QUICK TIPS FOR EYES

The most common reason for people having undereye bags is lack of sleep, although water retention and stress can also cause bags under the eyes.  To alleviate this problem, lay moistened tea bags on the eyes.  Just lay back and relax for 15, 20 minutes or so.  Once you remove the tea bags, your eyes should feel refreshed.  You can just use the regular black tea type that people normally have in the cupboard (orange pekoe, etc.).

Natural Cleanser Cream Beauty

Want to look ten years younger, just by using this Natural Cleanser Cream Beauty recipe? Of course you do! That's why you've come to the Skin Natural blog to read this article.

Below is the recipe for a basic, homemade cleansing cream. I made the name up but feel free to stick a label on your jar and call it anything you like. You should be able to find the ingredients at craft stores (try Michael's), online retailers and auctions, or even at some pharmacies.

Natural Cleanser Cream Beauty

You don't need a lot of this cream in order to get a clean, moisturized face.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces of lanolin
  • 2 tablespoons of beeswax
  • 3/8 of a cup of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of herbal infusion (recipe follows)

How to Make Your Cleanser Cream

In the top of a double boiler, melt together the lanolin and beeswax over low heat. Once they are melted, add the olive oil and remove from heat. If you want, you can stir in some of your favourite scented oil, though it's not necessary. Stir continuously until the mixture is cool, thick and creamy, then put into a clean jar with a screw top lid for storing.

How to Use This Recipe to Become a Natural Cleanser Cream Beauty

Using a small amount of your cleansing cream mixture, rub it into your face in circular motions to clean it. Do not remove yet, as you are now going to put a hot cloth over your face to open your pores and help the cream to do its work. Just relax for a few minutes and enjoy. When the cloth cools, put it under the hot water tap again to warm it up and repeat the process. Continue doing this for several times before wiping off with a clean cloth or tissue. Your herbal infusion can now be patted on to tone your face and you are done.

Do this on daily basis, or as often as you have time for. It feels so good that you may think of it as relaxing spa time.

How to Make Your Herbal Infusion

This one is really easy. Just pour 1 1/4 cups of boiling water over 3 or 4 tablespoons of your choice of fresh herb. If you don't have fresh, you can use a teaspoon of the dried equivalent, instead. It is recommended that you use either a china or earthenware container for this. Steep half an hour, strain and refrigerate in a glass jar with screw top lid. It will keep in the fridge for about a week. Apply to your face cold for best results.

You can use any of the following for your infusion:

Chamomile to tone your facial muscles
Fennel to clear up blemishes (use both the seeds and leaves)
Lemon Balm to smooth out wrinkles
Mint is an excellent astringent, regardless of what type you use
Rosemary will help tighten that sagging skin
Comfrey is also good for fighting wrinkles. You need to mix it with some witch hazel
Thyme is another good astringent and acne fighter

Aside from using a little of this infusion in your Natural Cleanser Cream Beauty recipe, you can apply it directly to your face, preferably at least two times per week. If you do, you should see the effects right away.

Facial Scrubs - All Natural and Homemade

Facial Scrubs are terrific for exfoliating and freshening your skin.

While an at home facial is great, some store bought products can be very abrasive and irritating, so should be used gently on the face. If you determine that some facial scrubs are too harsh or cause an allergic reaction, discontinue use. Wait until your skin has recovered before trying a different one. The rule of thumb is that if you have allergies to eating certain foods, you should not put them on your skin.

The purpose of a facial scrub is to cleanse and tone, as well as to stimulate oil gland production. For this reason, teenagers, especially those fighting pimples, should use them sparingly.

There are some satisfying bonuses to making your own at home facial.
  • no chemicals, you know and control the ingredients
  • the product is always freshly made, whereas purchased scrubs can sit on a store or warehouse self for lengthy periods of time
  • you can try a different facial scrub recipe each time
  • many homemade scrubs can double as masks
  • they're inexpensive and convenient because you often have the ingredients on hand
  • having an at home facial is just fun and satisfying

The following suggestions apply to all homemade facial scrubs:
  • gently rub onto your face in a circular motion
  • avoid eye area
  • rinse well with clear water
  • moisturize after rinsing
  • do a small test patch before using on face
Without further adieu, here are a few homemade facial scrubs for you to try.

Oatmeal Facial Scrubs

This is one of the easiest and cheapest facial scrubs ever. For the basic recipe, just blend some oatmeal until you have gotten it to a powder. Put some of it into the palm of your hand, moisten with water to form a thick paste. Use to scrub your face, rinse well, pat dry and moisturize.

To get double duty from an oatmeal facial scrub, leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing off. Your skin will feel clean and soft.

VARIATIONS OF THE OATMEAL FACIAL SCRUB:

For a natural treatment for blackheads, moisten the oatmeal (ground finely) and rub it on the affected areas for 5 minutes or so. Gentle but effective.

Add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of yogurt to a tablespoon of the basic oatmeal recipe to increase toning, hydrating and fading age spots.

Mix 3 tablespoons each of oatmeal, ground almonds and powdered milk, with 2 tablespoons of powdered rose petals. Add enough almond oil to make a paste, mixing thoroughly. Store the finished product in a sealed container or glass jar.

Almond Meal Facial Scrub

This is another super-easy homemade facial scrub recipe. Simply mix a little water into a handful of dried almond meal to cleanse your face. Rinse really well and moisturize.

Honey and Almond Facial Scrub

Just mix together 1 teaspoon of honey, a half teaspoon of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of ground almonds. This scrub has great cleansing power that you'll feel the results of. Rinse well with warm water.

Cucumber Facial Scrub

Take a small cucumber and throw it into a blender with 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt. Add enough honey to form a consistency you like and can work with. Rub this mixture all over your face for 2 or 3 minutes. After you've done that, you can either rinse it off or leave on and let dry. This is another one of those facial scrubs that doubles as a face mask.

Invent Your Own Facial Scrub

Give these homemade facial scrubs a try and see which are your favourites. Feel free to experiment with your own, maybe you'll invent some new face mask recipes that you can share with others or keep as your special skin secret. Either way, enjoy your at home facial!

10 Natural Cures for Pimples, Acne, Blackheads and Blemishes

I'm adding this post about natural cures for pimples, acne, blackheads and blemishes because when it comes to your skin, it's always best to start with the basics and build from there. Take good care of yourself and try these home remedies for any lingering problems.

Skin Natural's 10 Natural Cures for Pimples, Acne, Blackheads and Blemishes

1.) Yarrow root tea tops the list because it makes an excellent face wash. The recipe is simple:
  • 1 teaspoon yarrow root
  • 1 cup of boiling water
Let steep for 5 minutes or so, then strain and cool before using. It is recommended that you use this several times a day to gain control of pimples and acne.

2.) Vegetables to the rescue, as usual. Just eat one green pepper, one stalk of celery and one carrot for lunch daily. This will not only clear up your blemishes, it will also aid in the cleansing of your digestive tract. Actually, that's why this natural cure works so well.

3.) Fruit works, as well. When eaten daily, apricots will help to control your pimples and acne - naturally.

4.) Cucumber juice is another good product for healing all kinds of blemishes. Apply to skin for controlling outbreaks and drink cucumber juice as a natural cure for whatever in your body is causing them.

5.) Violet leaf tea is another one of the good, natural cures for pimples, acne, blackheads and blemishes. Again, it's easy to make. Just make a tea of 1 teaspoon of violet leaves in 1 cup of boiling water. Strain and drink. Do this 3 times a day.

6.) Brown rice should be a part of your diet if you are trying to clear up or control skin blemishes. It contain a variety of amino acids, which makes it another one of the effective natural cures for all types of skin problems.

7.) Fresh fruit juice will help get your skin in shape, too. Drink one quart per day for maximum benefit in healing acne and blemishes.

8.) Avens herb roots and leaves will help clear away freckles and blemishes. Make into a tea or poultice and apply to skin.

9.) Soapwort is an herb used to (among other things) heal problem skin. Mix powdered soapwort with water and apply to skin daily as needed.

10.) Vitamin A, Vitamin E and brewer's yeast, will aid in the clearing of the skin when taken daily for a month. It is highly recommended that you use organic products and apply peppermint oil to the affected areas, as well.

Wrinkle Remedy Natural Skin Tightener

At some point in a person's life, the Wrinkle Fairy becomes a frequent visitor. You wake up one morning and see your mother's face staring back at you in the mirror. Inside, you may still feel like a 20 year old but gosh darn it, your face and neck are screaming otherwise. Typically, that's when the shopping spree for any old product that promises the look of youth begins. Well, save your trip to the stores until after you've tried this wrinkle remedy natural skin tightener.

You make the recipe yourself. A lot of people will have the items already on hand. You'll need:
  • an egg white
  • sugar
  • honey
  • cucumber juice
Easy, right? Only 4 ingredients. For the cucumber juice, try your juicer. If you watch the video below, you'll get a feel for the amounts of each ingredient as I don't have exact measurements. I'm not even sure it matters much.

Mix the above ingredients together until all of the sugar is dissolved. Apply to face and neck, leave on for about 10 minutes and then rinse off and pat dry.

This solution can be kept bottled in the fridge for 5 - 7 days.

This wrinkle remedy natural skin tightener should firm up the wrinkles and sags nicely. I think that anything that keeps the Wrinkle Fairy away is a good thing. You may want to incorporate this with some homemade facial scrubs to treat your face to even better care.

Remedies for Pimples

We've all had the experience. It's the most important date or event of your life and you wake up to find a big pimple on your face that wasn't there when you went to bed. The blemish has appeared overnight. As far as you're concerned it's big enough to be another head, although no one else thinks much of it. It's half an hour until you have to leave, it's definitely not the time to start popping pimples! Maybe you are still in your teens and experiencing acne. Whether you have one outbreak or an ongoing problem, these six home remedies for pimples should prove helpful.

Skin Natural's 6 Remedies for Pimples

  • Cleaner is better when it comes to keeping pimples at bay. Cleanse your face twice daily and be sure to regularly wash materials that come in contact with your face, like your pillowcases and towels. Also be sure to remove your makeup nightly and keep your applicators and brushes clean. This will cut down on the transference of acne causing bacteria.
  • Want to know how to remove pimples? Look in your medicine cabinet. Toothpaste is a really cheap, easy and convenient way to dry out a pimple. Just dab on and let dry before rinsing off. Be sure to use the paste type, gel toothpastes won't work.
  • Calamine Lotion is not exactly a natural skin care product, however many people have it on hand. It will work in a similar fashion to toothpaste for drying up a pimple.
  • Zinc is an important mineral for healing and cell regeneration. Eat foods rich in zinc such as oats beans, nuts, whole grains, dairy products and pumpkin seeds, or take supplements. A daily dose of 50 mg. for a month should prove helpful. If you do notice an improvement after that time, go ahead and reduce the dosage. Of course, the natural way to get your zinc intake would be via your diet, however some people are not able to absorb full amounts of this mineral.
  • Before going to bed, make a paste of three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon and apply to your pimples or problem areas. In the morning, wash the paste off with warm water. Use this method for acne treatment nightly for two weeks.
  • Use the juice of fresh papaya or honey to dry the blemish and kill pimple-causing bacteria. Let sit on the affected skin area for about 20 minutes then rinse with warm water and pat dry.
These 6 remedies for pimples should give you some relief. Check back here at the Skin Natural blog from time to time as there will be future posts of skin remedies. Natural facial masks are very good for soothing pimples and acne and will be mentioned in that post.

Welcome to Skin Natural!

A warm welcome to Skin Natural. Our purpose in publishing this blog is to inform you of alternative methods of caring for the largest organ of your body - your skin.

We at Skin Natural strive to make your natural skin care regime as convenient, inexpensive and easy as possible. Often times, the everyday items from your garden, fridge or cupboard can offer you the most natural skin care products of all.

The best reasons to use natural skin care methods are, of course relative and subjective but I don't think that anyone can argue the basics: there is little chance of allergic reaction, you won't have to purchase so many expensive store-bought items and your tender skin won't be subjected to so many chemicals.

Why not do yourself a favour and give some of these beauty home remedies a try. You won't be out much in time or materials. Not only that but these methods stem from centuries old wisdom handed down through the generations. I've found that sometimes they can take a little longer to work than store purchased chemical concoctions but jeez, think of the benefits to you and your skin. Natural materials win out, as far as I'm concerned.
